PENNY MARKET RECRUITMENT CAMPAIGN

Mainstage Agency brought me on this project to create a 90 second animation for a recruitment campaign by Penny Market.
The animation is a narrated video by a real employee, Alex, about how he ended up working at Penny, and the things appreciated about being a Penny employee.
Based on some key scenes in the script, I made two variations for color treatment- the first version using the brand's colors, the second a more naturalistic, pasteley treatment.

After receiving approval on the styleframes, I worked on the storyboards, presenting the visuals that would accompany the narration.
The challenge was to create scenes of concrete things happening, when the script was at times vague- for example, when Alex says "people can come with new ideas and grow together"- it would be good to have a specific scene where this happens, but this scene needs to be grounded in reality, so I needed to make several rounds of suggestions based on what I imagine to be possible in the context of working in a supermarket.
After having the storyboard approved, I received the temporary V.O. recording on which I made the animatic to test the timing for all the scenes.
