The biggest challenge in painting plein-air is to catch the relationship of color temperatures and values, all while simplifying shapes and details so as to catch the true essence of a scenery.
Add to the mix the shifting light, the sounds and wind against your skin, painting plein-air is like a high intensity cardio work out for the art-focusing brain. It's a blast, and you get a priceless souvenir-snapshot of the moment for the effort.
